Objective

Our Kindergarten department provides a healthy context in which our youngest learners can explore their ideas, hypothesise and ask questions. Children are encouraged to find expressive, creative answers as they learn in a positive setting alongside caring friends and attentive teachers.

Early childhood education is a period characterised by relationship development, bilingual and motor-skill development, and the continued discovery of self and the external world through story-telling and play.

Curriculum

BNCC e IEYC

In addition to the Brazilian curriculum, structured from the BNCC (Base Nacional Curricular Comum), we deliver the IEYC (International Early Years Curriculum), an international curriculum centred around learning English through multidisciplinary projects and an emphasis on an investigative approach.

Kindergarten learners are guided by teachers who initiate hypotheses and encourage comparisons, allowing young children to understand different perspectives and recall knowledge.

Kindergarten space

Safe and receptive

In the first years of life, all children begin to build their first relationships, each of which directly affects their self-esteem. Therefore, we reinforce a safe and receptive Kindergarten space, separate from older children, with specialist Kindergarten Staff who are always ready to offer an affectionate and listening ear. Children are encouraged to express themselves and find confidence in using their voices as they discover the world.

Bilingualism

Exposed to the English language

In each Kindergarten division, our children are highly exposed to English so they become familiar with the language, familiarise themselves with the correct pronunciation and expand their socio-cultural repertoire. In Kindergarten 3 and 4, approximately 80% of classes are English-based, while in Kindergarten 5, the amount of subjects taught in the English language is 50%, with 50% dedicated to Portuguese-speaking classes.

Literacy

During early childhood education, young learners build a strong foundation in literacy and develop phonological awareness. At age 3, a knowledge of letters leads to recognising and understanding the alphabet and writing in a continual process until Kindergarten 5 - the end of the Early Years literacy course.

LIV

Life Intelligence Laboratory

The Life Intelligence Lab is our socio-emotional development programme. In the Early Years setting, LIV helps Kindergarteners name and recognise their basic emotions: fear, joy, sadness and anger. Young students also learn about love as a fundamental component of the family.
